Seeking resources for Dyslexia
Mr. and Mrs. Joestar
Parents of Joni
We are parents to our beautiful little boy Joni. In our journey to better support our son Joni’s reading journey and learning experience at home, we’ve come across a few challenges. While we’re not very experienced with technology or educational tools, we want to find accessible and engaging ways to help our son feel more confident with reading.
We’re looking for simple, easy-to-use resources and recommendations that can help children with dyslexia enjoy reading and learning in a less stressful way. We’d also love to connect with parents, educators, or specialists who can share advice, tools, or experiences that have helped them.
Our goal is to create a small community-driven collection of accessible reading resources, tools, and activities for families with children who struggle with reading difficulties such as dyslexia.
We’re especially interested in:
- Interactive reading tools
- Audiobooks and visual storytelling
- Child-friendly educational apps
- Shared reading activities for parents and children
- Simple techniques that make reading less overwhelming
As parents, we want reading time to feel encouraging and enjoyable rather than frustrating or stressful.
We also hope to spend more quality time together through storytelling and learning activities that help build our child’s confidence.
One of our biggest difficulties is knowing where to start.
Some challenges we currently face include limited knowledge about educational technology as well as lack of time to research resources. Also we don’t know which tools are actually helpful for children with dyslexia, despite looking them up online.
We’d love support, advice, or recommendations from:
- Parents with similar experiences
- Dyslexia specialists or educators
- Developers creating accessible learning tools
- Reading coaches or therapists
- Anyone familiar with child-friendly educational resources
We hope to create a supportive environment where our child can feel more confident, motivated, and comfortable with reading.
In the future, we’d love to:
- Discover tools that genuinely help
- Build healthier learning routines at home
- Connect with other families
- Help other parents facing similar challenges by sharing what we learn
